The Best Places for Gear

When you're starting out, backpacking gear can be a struggle to find. It's tough to locate exactly what you need, while also staying within some sort of budget. In this post, I am going to link to all the websites that I used when purchasing my gear.

  1. https://www.rei.com/rei-garage REI is an awesome place to get any and all outdoors equipment that you could need. While they can be pricey, they also have an online outlet store, which is linked here. You can search through a ton of discounted and used gear that works just as well as the new stuff!

  2. https://www.ohiostationoutlets.com/stores/eddie-bauer-outlet Eddie Bauer is one of the best companies to get your outdoor clothing from. Here, I've linked to the outlet store in Lodi Outlet Mall. I was recently there and bought two pairs of hiking pants and two pairs of trail socks for half off! They always have great deals going on, so if you're looking for some trail clothing, I highly recommend this place!

  3. https://www.patagonia.com/home/ While Patagonia can be a little pricey as well, the quality of their clothing is worth it. I take my fleece sinchilla with me every camping trip and am rarely cold. It's the perfect pullover to throw on when night hits and the temperatures begin to drop.

  4. https://bearfoottheory.com/category/backpacking/ Backpacking can be a difficult hobby to conquer. When I began going, I started reading several blogs to prepare myself. This blog was super helpful with a ton of different tips that I still use and remember.

  5. http://www.girlonahike.com/2016/05/8-beginner-backpacking-tips-for-women.html Finally, as a woman, there are a lot of things that differ when backpacking from men. Since I've only gone with guys that had experience, I searched the web for good blogs that had tips for female backpackers, and this one was awesome!
